OEM licenses

ReLicense AG transfers used OEM licenses within the EU, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and Switzerland. Transfer is carried out within a secure legal framework by virtue of compliance with the Software Directive of the European Union and applied national legislation, reinforced by national judgements at the highest judicial level (2000) and by the Court of Justice of the European Union (2012).

OEM is the abbreviated form of ‘Original Equipment Manufacturer’. In Microsoft terminology, OEM also means ‘full version’ as well as denoting OEM licenses for the following categories of manufacturer:

  •  OEM licenses – are supplied by manufacturers such as Acer, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, etc.

or the following nomenclature variants are identical to OEM licenses:

  • SystemBuilder (SB) licenses – are supplied to integrators of so-called “no name” PCs, notebooks, etc.
  • Microsoft Authorised Refurbisher (MAR) licenses – are supplied to companies that refurbish used hardware and equip it with a current operating system

OEM / SB / MAR / etc. are variants of so-called OEM licenses that are distributed and licensed via authorized hardware suppliers.
